Our Czech Texas began with a simple attempt to better understand my own family and the community I grew up in.
What started as genealogy quickly became something larger: an exploration of the people, places, relationships, traditions and everyday experiences that shaped West and the surrounding Czech communities of Central Texas.
I'm collecting family and community memories, photographs, documents and oral histories—not just names and dates, but the ordinary pieces of life that often disappear when no one thinks to write them down.
If your family is part of this story, I'd love to hear from you.

You don't have to think you have an “important” story to contribute. Sometimes the ordinary things people remember are exactly the things history forgets to record.
If you'd be willing to talk with me, it doesn't have to be formal—or even in person. We can sit down together, talk by phone, or visit over Zoom, whatever is easiest for you.
